Colon Pain : Colon Cancer?

July 2nd, 2010

Can someone tell me if I have Colon Cancer or some kind of colon problems?

I’m 22 and I’m a female. For years, I have been getting this sharp pain in my colon that comes and goes every now and then. I can say I probably experience this 12 times per year (spread out throughout the year). The pain feels like my colon is probably contracting or maybe like it’s being stabbed by a knife, because it is very sharp feeling. It can come out of the blue, while I’m lying down, standing, or sitting and it stays for maximum of 5 seconds maybe.

I’ve never inserted anything into that area and I don’t ever use it for anything except bowel movements. I’ve never had hemerroids or any rectal bleeding or anything. I still have not gone to get it checked out. I looked up Colon Cancer symptoms on the internet and the symptom that I have is not among them, so I am really confused as to what may be happening.

If this symptom may sound familiar to you can you please share with me what it may be? :^(

Could these symptoms indicate colon cancer??

July 1st, 2010

I’ve been suffering with digestive problems for the past six years and I can’t seem to shake it. I’ve suffered from chronic constipation(even though I eat plenty of fruit/veg, drink buckets of water and excerise daily). Lately I’ve been getting dizzy, I can’t eat anything without feeling like I’m going to vomit, I get pains not only along my stomach but further down near my vagina and around the kidneys. I can’t eat anything without becoming bloated(I have kept a food diary and documented the results) and I’m constantly tired. When I do go to the toilet I still feel the need to defecate and my rectal area does bleed every few months.

Family History: My mother suffers from mild constipation, my grandfather was dependant on laxatives all his life, my Uncle has I.B.S.

Oh and I’m 17 years old.

Do people with stage 0 colon cancer need chemo or is this an insurance income for doctors and staff?

July 1st, 2010

My friend had a resected bowel in January 2010 due to precancerous cells found during a routine colonoscopy in November 2009. She is 50. They said it was between a Stage 2-3, but because she is a non-smoker, that drops it to a Stage 0. She is not tolerating the procedure of her chemotherapy very well (air passages closed briefly in cold weather) and is wondering if she even needs it! Any suggestions for her?

What stage might my mom's colon cancer be in?

June 29th, 2010

Ok, yesterday I found out my mom was diagnosed with Colon Cancer.

She hasn’t felt bad, and says she hasn’t been feeling ill at all. The only reason she found out was because a week back, she had a tiny bit of blood in her stool. And then it stopped on its own anyways.

However, she went in to get her Colon checked out anyways…and they found colon cancer. They didn’t tell her what stage she is in, because they still need to do a body scan, but they did tell her that they are going to give her surgery sometime before Christmas regardless (after they do the scan).

Now when I asked her what stage of cancer she might be in, she said the doctor didn’t know.

BUT he knows there is a tumor and said it was quite Large..:( But she also told me that oddly, he said something about the tumor not being completely "attached" to her body..therefore, they think it might be easy to remove……

My mom is 56, overweight, and smokes. She does have a good and good insurrance (her job has benefits, etc.)

But overall she doesn’t really take good care of herself by eating right, etc…She doesn’t each much, but doesn’t get any exercise at all..she is on the obese side..in which I’m terrified that the shape she is in, will make it harder for her to beat the cancer (IF it is not fully removed during surgery)..or worse–she can die in sugery since she is a smoker….but I’m mainly worried more abuot the Cancer itself.

Anyhow…I just wanted anyone’s opinion on what type of Stage YOU think my mom has…she was only diagnosed yesterday.

The ONLY issues she’s had 2 weeks ago was tiny blood in her stool–and that stopped on her own.

She hasn’t had rapid weight loss (as explained when I look at info about Stage 3 or 4 Colon Cancer)..

so her SYMTOMS seem very small..as she has been feeling very good during the last months, besides some gas and bloating–again she is already overweight tho.

Thank you in advance for reading and replying. Again, we WILL find out what stage she is in..but that won’t be for another week or so…so I just want some opinions on what stage YOU all think she might be in–considering that:

-her tumor IS large
-but she hasn’t had any symtoms other than bloating and gas
-she is 56
-overweight
-smokes

mind you–she has never had her colon checked out until now…not sure if you also would need that information

she hasnt had any major weight loss, vomiting, or neasea…etc..
You don’t have to be qualified to answer..I just want your opinion, especially if you know someone who has had the same type of Cancer. :)

I would not hold anyone’s opinion against them.
Thanks :)
